“What is Memorial Day, Mom?” my son asked when he was young.
Good question! Many people consider Memorial Day as the three-day-weekend that celebrates the beginning of summer.
However, Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday that commemorates U.S. men and women who have died in military service to their country. The day is observed on the last Monday of May. Traditionally, the graves of military troops are decorated and remembered for their ultimate sacrifice.
