Busy but Bright!
Summer begins. We expect summer to be a time of relaxation, but summer can bring its own heated headaches. We anticipate three months of unwinding from our usual routines, and then—wham! Stress scurries into our lives amidst the sunshine, barbeques, and vacations. For a great example, be sure to read my devotion, G.F.I.
For myself, my June is jam packed with activity. First, I will be babysitting my two granddaughters—my chickadee peeps. Then, I fly to North Carolina to teach at the Proverbs 31 conference, She Speaks!. If you have any inkling that the Lord is leading you to write or speak, place this conference on your calendar for next year, 2009. This year She Speaks! is full—over 550 women. This conference stands out as a highlight each year. The teaching, the fellowship, and encouragement refresh every woman that attends. It enables women to sort out their own calling from Jesus and then know how to pursue it with excellence.
After She Speaks, my husband and I will be taking a couple of weeks of personal vacation—no cell phones and no Internet. Will I survive? That in itself might create its own type of stress. We shall see . . .
Then later in July, I go with my Tuesday night small group for a girlfriends' getaway—just us girls, to Myrtle Beach! One of our girls worked extra hard at her BeautiControl business and won a townhouse for a week in Myrtle Beach. We just couldn’t let her go alone—so we all decided to go and keep her company.
Regardless of what summer brings your way, remember we belong to Jesus—the Prince of Peace.
